Vampire Survivors

Vampire Survivors is a bullet-heaven roguelite where your character attacks automatically and your primary job is to move, dodge, and make smart upgrade choices. Each run begins with you selecting a character — each starts with a unique weapon — and dropping into a map swarming with monsters that escalate in both type and quantity as the timer climbs toward 30 minutes. Every time you level up, you're offered a selection of weapons and passive items to add or upgrade. The game's deepest mechanic is weapon evolution: when a weapon reaches level 8 (its maximum) and you simultaneously hold a specific passive item, a fused evolved weapon appears at your next level-up. Evolutions are dramatically more powerful than their base forms — for example, the Whip + Hollow Heart evolves into Bloody Tear, which heals on hit; the Pentagram + Crown evolves into Gorgeous Moon, a screen-clearing explosion that also collects every experience gem on the map. There are more than 20 evolutions in the base game, plus additional evolutions introduced in the Tides of the Foscari, Emergency Meeting, and Ode to Castlevania DLCs. At 30 minutes, Death arrives as a boss — survive the encounter and you win the run. Between runs, gold collected during play is spent on the Power Up menu, where permanent upgrades make all future characters stronger, gradually unlocking more of the game's extensive roster of characters, weapons, and maps.

Weapon evolutions are the core strategic layer of Vampire Survivors. To trigger an evolution, you need two things simultaneously: a weapon at level 8 (its maximum), and the specific paired passive item in your inventory. When you next level up with both conditions met, the evolved weapon will appear in your selection menu — pick it to fuse both items into a single, far more powerful weapon. Here are all the base-game evolutions and their required pairs: Whip + Hollow Heart = Bloody Tear (heals a percentage of damage dealt); Magic Wand + Empty Tome = Holy Wand (projectiles never stop firing); Knife + Bracer = Thousand Edge (continuous knife stream); Axe + Candelabrador = Death Spiral (spinning curved blades); Cross + Clover = Heaven Sword (giant cross boomerangs); King Bible + Spellbinder = Unholy Vespers (orbiting books with massive hitbox); Fire Wand + Spinach = Hellfire (screen-wide horizontal fireballs); Garlic + Pummarola = Soul Eater (aura that restores HP proportional to kills); Santa Water + Attractorb = La Borra (water pools that follow enemies); Runetracer + Armor = NO FUTURE (bouncing diamond that shreds through crowds); Lightning Ring + Duplicator = Thunder Loop (chains of lightning hitting multiple targets); Pentagram + Crown = Gorgeous Moon (periodic screen explosion that collects all gems — arguably the strongest in the game); Peachone + Ebony Wings = Vandalier (combined bird that fires in all directions); Clock Lancet + Silver Ring + Gold Ring = Infinite Corridor (freezes all non-boss enemies on screen); Laurel + Metaglio Left + Metaglio Right = Crimson Shroud (hard-caps incoming damage at 10 per hit, making you nearly invulnerable). Plan your build around which evolutions you want before choosing weapons early in the run.

For beginners, the single most impactful piece of advice is to always include the Pentagram in your weapon selection and keep a Crown passive item in reserve — their evolution, Gorgeous Moon, collects all experience gems on screen passively, dramatically accelerating your leveling speed in the mid and late game. The best starting character for new players is Antonio Belpaese: his whip grows stronger as the run progresses, rewarding players who survive into the later minutes. Imelda Belpaese is the second-best starting choice because her bonus experience gain speeds up leveling and helps you access evolutions faster. Vampire Survivors has a significant secrets system: type 'counterscarp' on the title screen to reveal a hidden character (Gains Boros), and explore map edges and coffin chests in the Dairy Plant and Gallo Tower to unlock additional characters not listed in the main menu. For gold farming, the Dairy Plant stage is the most efficient: the compact map keeps enemies dense, and a Gorgeous Moon build collects gems automatically while you focus on moving. In the Power Up menu between runs, prioritize Growth (experience multiplier), Greed (gold gain multiplier), and Magnet (gem collection radius) before spending on anything else — these three permanently accelerate all future runs. Vampire Survivors also has a co-op mode: enable it in the game settings to have a second character follow your cursor as an ally.
